Mobile or Fixed Wood Grinder: Compare Material Flow, Site Movement and Transport

Compare the complete workflow before choosing a mobile chassis or fixed installation.

Compare the complete workflow before choosing a mobile chassis or fixed installation. Actual ground limits, relocation, transport, accepted output and costs matter more than a universal mobility advantage.

A mobile wood grinder can change the route between material and machine, while a fixed installation can suit a stable flow. Choose by the actual site’s receiving, preparation, loading, discharge and transport arrangement, not a promise that mobility wins almost everywhere. Movement within a site and transport between sites are separate requirements, and neither proves lower cost or higher accepted output.

Map material flow before choosing the installation

Record where incoming loads arrive, how material is inspected and prepared, where approved feed is held, how it reaches the grinder and where accepted product and rejects go. If stockpiles and tasks change, moving equipment may alter handling distance, but it does not eliminate preparation, loading, storage or transport. If flow remains stable, a fixed layout may be worth evaluating. Compare the actual routes and constraints; do not assume either layout wins by default.

Separate repositioning from inter-site transport

Specify how often the grinder must change working position and how often it must leave the site. Confirm travel routes, ground conditions, clearance, loading and the responsible transport plan for the actual supplied build. A self-propelled chassis is not permission to travel on public roads; a wheeled or trailer-mounted machine is not automatically approved for every tow vehicle or highway. Check the applicable transport requirements with the responsible parties before scheduling a move.

Evaluate a crawler against documented ground limits

For a WD3600C crawler configuration, obtain the actual movement, operating-ground and setup limits. Do not interpret tracks as universal suitability for soft ground or steep inclines. Confirm permitted movement and remote-control functions under the machine documentation and site assessment; do not assume grinding while moving. Include undercarriage inspection, wear, maintenance and inter-site loading requirements in the comparison.

Confirm wheels, trailers and skid handling individually

A WD3600W wheeled configuration should be evaluated against its quoted chassis and supplied movement arrangements. Wheels, towability and a trailer designation do not establish legal road transport or eliminate setup requirements. If a skid-mounted option is proposed, confirm the actual lifting, support and transport plan with qualified parties; do not assume any crane or flatbed will suffice. Do not presume that every supplier offers all chassis types with identical equipment.

Request evidence for the supplied machine’s engineering

Ask for the relevant configuration, permitted operating conditions, inspection records and agreed acceptance scope. Rotor balance, frame design and vibration claims require their actual measurement methods and records; this guide does not establish the former 2-gram tolerance or universal analysis and factory-test coverage. Site support, guarding and setup follow the supplied manual and qualified assessment, not a photograph or an unsupported statement about uneven terrain. The wear-parts and inspection record helps organize component identities and service questions.

Compare accepted output and complete costs over one period

Use representative approved material and record configuration, preparation, time, energy, accepted output, rejects, oversize and reprocessing. A nominal tons-per-hour number or a smooth-looking machine is not evidence that the output meets the recipient’s requirements. Compare energy, labor, wear, handling, transport, setup, ownership and any fixed-site works within the same period and cost boundary. Record productive and interruption time without double counting. Do not substitute the former 25-versus-15 comparison or monthly saving example for a measured account.

Send the workflow and movement requirements together

Share material condition, required product, loading equipment, stockpile layout, ground assessment, repositioning frequency, inter-site transport and existing utilities through technical contact. Related WeiDong horizontal wood grinder applications can broaden the workflow discussion, not prove a mobile advantage or payback. Request a matched supply scope and evaluation; choose the configuration that serves the complete operation rather than the strongest general mobility claim.
