Applications

Sawmill and Wood-Processing Waste

WeiDong horizontal grinders and tub grinders reduce sawmill slabs, edgings, bark, offcuts and other mill residue into boiler fuel, mulch or board feedstock. Long slabs feed well into the WD1690 horizontal grinder’s 1,620 × 640 mm infeed; mixed bark and offcuts suit the 3600-series tub grinder.

What this application demands

  • Long, flat residue

Slabs and edgings feed in a consistent stream through a horizontal infeed.

  • Continuous duty

Sawmills generate residue every shift; electric skid-mount machines fit fixed lines with grid power.

  • Fuel for own boilers

Many mills burn the ground residue on site; output size is set by the boiler’s fuel requirement.

  • Tramp metal

Saw-damaged metal and fixings are removed by inspection and magnets.

Sawmill residue is predictable in type but large in volume. A fixed or semi-fixed grinder, often electric, turns it into a fuel or product stream every day.

Frequently asked questions

Can sawmill waste be ground for boiler fuel?

Yes. Grinding slabs, bark and offcuts produces boiler fuel; the screen opening and rotor are set for the boiler’s particle-size and fines limits.

Is an electric grinder suitable for a sawmill?

Often yes. Sawmills usually have industrial power, and an electric skid-mount model (WDE1690M or WDE3600M) avoids diesel fuel handling.
